Yumi Stynes is powerful, and she isn’t afraid that you might not like her.
Yumi grew up in Swan Hill, Victoria where she quickly realised that people like her, who looked different from the average Australian, didn’t have a voice in mainstream Australian media.
Yumi began to make a name for herself as the host of Channel [V] from 2008. In 2010, she joined Network Ten as a co-host on The Circle. During this time, Yumi also co-hosted the 3PM Pick Up with Chrissie Swan.
Deeply invested in education surrounding sexual health, Yumi is the host of the popular podcast, Ladies, We Need To Talk, which focuses on female health and sexuality.
She has co-authored four books in the Welcome To series: winning ABIA Children’s Book of the Year in 2020 for Welcome to Your Period as well as being shortlisted for 2024 Young Adult Indie Book Award and a finalist for ABIA Children’s Book of the Year for Welcome to Consent.
A notorious foodie, Yumi is also the author of three cookbooks, as well as the creator of the podcast 5 Minute Food Fix.
Yumi has four wonderful children, who she describes as her happy place.
