Fern Brady is a Scottish comedian, journalist, author and unintentional spokesperson for neurodivergent women navigating a neurotypical world.
Fern started her career as a journalist, but it wasn’t until she wrote an article about stand-up comedy that she realised her true passion lay on the stage. Since her first professional gig in 2010, Fern has appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Taskmaster, The News Quiz, and Live at the Apollo.
In 2021, when Fern was 33 years old, she was diagnosed with autism. Throughout her adolescence and young twenties, Fern’s doctors had refuted this diagnosis as she had a boyfriend and could hold eye contact. In other words: Fern’s presentation of autism did not match the usual, predominantly male, characteristics.
In 2023, Fern published her memoir Strong Female Character which explores sexism and neurodiversity in Fern’s comedic and unabashed tone.
