Tarang Chawla is a writer, speaker, anti-violence campaigner and mental health advocate from Melbourne.
Tarang founded the Not One More Niki movement, Australia’s largest campaign to end violence against women in culturally diverse communities. The movement is named after his younger sister Nikita, who was murdered by her husband in 2015.
In 2017 Tarang was a Young Australian of the Year Finalist, and was presented with the Community Champion Award from the Carlton Blues Foundation in a ceremony held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Tarang is the Victorian Multicultural Commissioner and since 2016, has been a founding board member of the Victorian Government’s Victim Survivors’ Advisory Council (VSAC), advising the Victorian Government on the rollout of the Royal Commission into Family Violence recommendations.
