GUEST

Billy Slater

Billy Slater has been called the best fullback ever to have played the game of rugby league, by sporting greats and fans alike.

Having played for the Melbourne Storm for sixteen seasons in the NRL, Billy was also an Australian International and Queensland State of Origin representative fullback. He now coaches the Queensland Maroons, who he lead to victories in the 2022 and 2023 State of Origin series.

Not only is Billy one of the most decorated NRL players of all time (with an enormous collection of personal and club honours, including four grand final wins, five Dally M awards and two Clive Churchill Medals), but he is also a widely regarded and respected figure in the sport.

Billy’s career has seen him confront the Melbourne Storm salary cap scandal, heartbreaking losses, and a shoulder injury that made him fear that he would never hold his children again, let alone play rugby.

Through it all Billy has emerged not merely as a great of the game, but as an even more resilient character, an ambassador for his sport, and a devoted husband and father.
