Catriona Bisset is an athlete and middle-distance runner who broke the longest-standing Australian women’s athletics record in the 800m, a record that had stood for 43 years
Catriona holds the Oceanian record for the 800m in both indoor and outdoor events and secured a gold medal at the 2019 Universiade.
With four individual Australian national titles to her name, she has become a dominant force in middle-distance running.
However, Catriona’s journey to success wasn’t a smooth one. Before her breakthrough in 2019, she battled personal challenges, including disordered eating and anxiety, which once almost led her to step away from the sport entirely.
Her comeback was fueled by a focus on improving her mental health, and her resilience in overcoming these obstacles has played a critical role in her achievements.
