Hannah Diviney burst into the world 12 and a ½ weeks premature. Her dad’s wedding ring over to fit over her arm.
Hannah was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and her parents were told, worst case scenario, that Hannah would never be able to walk, talk or feed herself.
For Hannah, cerebral palsy causes extreme tightness and rigidity in her muscles, affecting her gross and fine motor skills, balance and overall movement.
Falling in love with storytelling from an early age, Hannah was working for Mamamia by age 15, taking on Disney to improve their representation of princesses with disabilities, and her work has now been published in ABC Everyday, Hireup, The Guardian, Careers with STEM. Hannah was previously the editor in chief for publication platform, Missing Perspectives.
Hannah’s name burst into the popular zeitgeist after she called out Lizzo, and then Beyonce, for an ableist lyric in their individual songs. They both responded to the criticism and changed their lyrics.
Hannah is also an actor, and has credits in the movie Audrey and TV show Latecomers, which was the first representation of someone with a disability have sex on Australian screens.
Hannah has also authored a book, I’ll Let Myself In.
